Catching up after a mad October
In addition to the normal recruitment activities of talking to and meeting clients and candidates, I am always fairly busy attending conferences and other industry events: this all peaked in October.
The month started with the BRC Retail Crime Conference which I have attend for the last few year and is always an interesting event. This year it clashed with The Association of Security Consultants CONSEC event, which reluctantly I had to miss. The first World Cities conference organised by London First was a two day event and for an inaugural event, went really well.
My first international trip of the month was two day trip to Frankfurt, the venue for next year’s 14th ASIS International European Security Conference and Exhibition. Day One was a meeting of The European Advisory Council and Day Two was the Programme Committee meeting, where we put together the speaker programme for the event (March 29 – 31). It was great catching up with ASIS colleagues from across Europe and beyond.
After catching up on some sleep over the weekend, it was straight into the Total Security Summit, a meet-the-buyer event run twice a year and which I attend regularly.
A day back in the office then off to the 8th Chief Security Summit and Roundtable, which this year was held in Brussels. This three day event boasts a great line-up of speakers and a blue-chip delegate list.
Another weekend catching up there was the first joint event between SASIG and the ASIS CSO Roundtable. This event sought to bring CSOs and CISOs together to discuss current issues affecting both roles.
Lastly, but not least was Security TWENTY 14 at Heathrow, which had a 60+ exhibitors alongside a conference, both of which were well attended.
So, all-in-all quite a month but please to be back to normal now. not that there aren’t still a few events coming up, The Security Institute, Remembrance Event and Birthday Party, the ASIS International UK Winter Meeting, the NAHS Conference and Transport Security Expo but spaced over a two month period all very manageable and enjoyable.
